my weight isn't dropping off like it was?? now it's getting really hard to lose the last bit of weight. i am exericising, eating right and i am not dropping the weight like i was before. am i not doing something right???
i do my cycling 4days a week 12-16 miles, light weights, sit ups, push ups and stretches.
i swim 3 days a week. 10-15 laps in a large pool.
meals breakfast i will have a yogurt, milk, and fresh fruit shake.
lunch half a sandwhich and an apple or piece of fruit.
dinner fish, cup of vegies, and a sweet potatoe.
no snacks.
this is an example of what i eat pretty much everyday. i have eaten like this for years. as you already know the hormones they put me on a few months ago is what made me gain weight but i have been off them for almost 4 months now. so i know that it take some time for the hormones to go back to normal.
i was curious to know if there is anythng else i can be doing to lose this last 20lbs. i want it off!! i am just getting frustrated now. :(
thanks for any input
all that working out is probably making you gain muscle, which is leaner than fat but weighs more. that may be why the weight isn't coming off as fast. stick to it and you'll still see resluts! hang in there babe! ;)

I think you need to eat more Debbie. You work out a lot and chances are even though you eat a decent amount, with the amount of exercise you do, you're burning it off too fast and now your body is thinking it has to start storing fat. For example, I usually eat:
Breakfast - oatmeal or a whole-wheat bagel with light cream cheese
Lunch - a lean cuisine meal or subway 6 inch or leftovers or a small can of campbell's chunky soup
Dinner - varies from tacos to chili to soup to spagetti, depending on my mood and who's cooking! :D
I also eat a TON of snacks from fruit to puddings, special K bars or even low-fat cookies (I love arrowroot cookies and animal crackers). But really, if you come into my office anytime during the day, chances are I'm eating or I have something in front of me.
Try having a snack of a yogurt or piece of fruit in the mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Eating 5 smaller meals is the best way to go rather than three larger meals.
Also your body may have hit a plateau, so just stick with it and you'll start seeing differences again. Try a new exercise and switch up your routine a bit.

a lot of people 'plateau' near the end of a weight loss routine. stick with it...your body is probably adjusting its metabolism to your new lifestyle. keep exercising. there's been times when i've gone as long as three weeks without any loss, but the weight does come off eventually. also, make sure you're eating enough to keep up with the calories you're burning, otherwise your body will start to store fat

Why don't you try cutting your meals in half? and eat like, 6 smaller meals everytime? I know some teachers that do that, and they dropped a lot of weight and are very healthy.

this is also good for your body's blood sugar levels!

I think a fluctuation of a few pounds is not a big deal. Most peoples weight can vary a bit from week to week. Also, I think going from age 14-18, women's bodies mature and develop, so a 5 pound gain is not unusual.

well i agree dgirl. that does happen.
well as for my news in going to the dr. my blood sugar is high but he wants to run more tests on me to see why and what is going on.
if the tests come back high i have to take a drug called metformin. it helps the body absorb the glucose to use for energy.
it keeps you from being a full blown diabetic. i am a bit scared because i have been waiting a long time to feel better. i have to eat 300mg of carbs for the next 3 days before my tests. that's going to be impossible without me getting sick. i mean i have been dieting now for 4 months. all those carbs are just going to put all the wieght back on me. :(
i hope they find whatever this is. i am really scared. :(
i have an appt to go back to him on aug 4th. we'll see then. thanks for all your support. :)
Deb--have the doctors checked your hormone levels again lately?

they ran a bunch of tests on me this monday. i had to do a fasting glucose and an oral. they also are checking my metablism my insulin and my lipids. so yesterday i had to ahve blood draw 4 times. man did that hurt. lol
i have bruises already. lol
anyway, my female hormones are gong back to normal. i am having double ovulations which is expected with getting off hormones.
but i may come back insulin resistant. meaning i have to go on meds. not quite a diabetic. could be why i can't lose weight. so we'll see on monday.
DEFINITE reason Deb! Please keep me posted! If it comes back that you are, you and I can still do something about it! :)
