I am loving the whole "Western look." Does anyone know where to find some cute boots for under $100?

you can try a country western store or a consignemnt shop. they always are getting stuff in like that. i don't know how you feel about used.
i don't know if rack room shoes may have them or not. i'd try all your local shoe stores. you can even search google and some stuff should pop up for you. do a price check on them before you buy them.
sounds pretty cool though. what made you want them? my husband said once they are broken in they are the most comfortalbe boots you will ever own. he has a pair taht are very worn. i won't let him leave with them on. lol
they are so worn. lol
but he's had his for 15 years. he used to wear them everyday.
good luck hope you find them. :)

Oh I love cowboy boots!!!! I've always wanted a pair they even make really cool ones at ALDO last summer but they are about 300 bucks. I recently bought a pair of suade cowboy boots for like under 30 bucks!!!!!!!!!!! They are sooooooo comfy cuz they aren't stiff like the leather ones but they are just as nice! I bought them from a "going out of business" store though. You can go to the stores that are specifically selling cowboy/western stuff and you can get customized boots!! You can choose the images you want in them and everything it's really cool but I bet it's expensive. Maybe check on zappos.com??? I'm sorry I couldn't help you anymore, but I'm tellin ya if you look hard enough I bet you'll find a pair under 50 bucks like I did!!!!!!!

Thanks, country/western influence is supposed to be really big this fall. I am thinking of wearing them with skirts or tucked in jeans. These are cute:

iin my own personal opinion, i saw someone wear them, a girl my age 18-22, and she looked absolutely retarded....i think you should only wear them if your from the southwest....other than that, i think people will raise their eyebrows like i did

thats my personal opinion

I've been reading your posts Sebrunn, and you seem reasonably intelligent. You've been to college, and you want your sister to get into a sorority based on her personality rather than her looks as some people can be as you admitted "shallow." Do you really think that using the term "retarded" to describe how someone looked to not be shallow or ignorant? Do you realize that you are doing to that random girl the same things that you are hoping the sororities won't do to your sister? Do you know what retarded people go through in one day, let alone their lifetimes? Did you know that the terms "idiot", "moron", and "cretin" were once used to describe varying levels of developmental delays but then were replaced because of people in society using the words to carelessly describe people they don't like or didn't agree with, so they moved to the term retardation. Now, because of the same stigma attached to retardation, they've had to move to "Developmentally delayed." I hope that you reconsider your usage of the term retarded and will pick a word that is a heck of a lot less offensive. I'm not easily offended by any means but this one hits my heart, as my cousin's father disowned her because he "doesn't create retarded kids."

And by the way, if another person's personal style doesn't agree with yours, it doesn't make the person wrong, stupid, or worse, "retarded". Please take this for what it is: a gentle reminder to consider the meaning and strength of your words before you commit to them, because words can and do hurt very much.

Much love,
Erin

thanks for the enabling. I like these http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=9265&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=121&iSubCat=123&iProductID=9265 in both colors! I love cold weather wear even though I live in Florida, but up here in NW Florida it does get pretty cold! And since I'm moving to a colder winter climate next year, I could totally see myself wearing them often.

I like the ones you picked out too. I couldn't wear them simply because of my flat feet (thanks, Dad) but I think the studded wedge is really pretty!

Living in the world of ice and snow, I have to say that in the late summer and fall, I love the cold weather clothes... the comfy sweaters, knee high boots, funky jackets, etc. But trust me, by the time you've endured many many months of it all, it is not as much fun! I'm usually sick of the clothing by January! My fav is wearing a skirt with tights and knee-high boots, but it's no fun when it's far too cold to wear it! I wish I lived in a place with moderate climate! No more extremes please!

Where do you live, Lea? I understand the extremes. It's 83 with a heat index of 88, and it's supposed to get up to 89 with a heat index in the 90s...not to mention the sticky humidity. Gross! I think I didn't explain it correctly. We're moving where it's at least cold in the winter, thankfully not cold all around (NW Arkansas). I think that would make me goofy. I just look forward to "marked" seasons as opposed to hot, hell, tartarus, and mild. That's basically our seasons here. With my father-in-law having Alzheimer's, we're somewhat glad we'll be moving up there. My MIL will need the support. We've been wanting to move there awhile but now there's extra need! And I'll finally be able to make use of the gajillion sweaters and wool skirts I have, and my boots! I can wear them here in the winter time but up there I will have them out longer...and can buy more without hearing James say, "You're buying MORE sweaters? Erin, you live in Florida! You don't NEED more sweaters!"

I'm in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. In the winter we can drop as low as -30. Typical winter days are around -4. And then the summer can be as high as 80s and low 90s with the humidity. It's insane! My problem is that I can't easily let myself buy summer clothes, as I can only wear them for such a short period. Our heat comes and goes so fast... June to August, 3 months, that's it! It's hard to let myself go crazy buying clothes I can only wear for a few months. But I let myself spend a lot with winter clothes, as you HAVE to stay warm or else!

Shall we talk about hot weather? There are about two seasons in East Texas: boiling hot/humid and simmering/rainy. When I feel the urge for a nice steam in the sauna, I just step outside.

That said, boots are definitely not used for warmth purpose here. They are just a fun accessory. To keep it cool, I am just pairing them with a prairie skirt and tank with a great oversized, low slung belt. Why the heck not?

Erin, the riding style boots are just darling. They seem versatile AND comfy. These poor tortured feet know little about comfort. Perhaps I should take a que from ya'?

Karen, I like all of your finds too. WOW, those boots are great! Love, love, love them.

Lea, at least you have a good reason to buy cold weather clothes. James just freaks when I spend money on *more* winter clothes. But he has to let me this time. Thankfully at least maternity sweaters have a chance of looking, well, not bad, at least not matronly, so I could wear some of those after the fact!

Amber, UGH. I know the heat well. Especially right now in the Dog Days of summer when the weather goes hot, humid, and sticky, then a ton of storms, then back to humid, sticky, plus wet. Fuuunnnn. You could totally work the western look. If you like it, and it fits you well, go for it! I can't do the prairie skirt. Even though my hips are MUCH smaller than they used to be, I still can't bring myself to like prairie skirts on me. I'm too....boxy? LOL I don't have much of a defined waist, even at my thinnest...I have sort of a gymnast's style body. A prairie skirt would make my waist look broad and my hips wide. Nope, can't do it. LOL But I bet you can do it well!

LOL I'm *all* about the comfort. If I wear nice shoes they have to be comfortable. I can't wear stilettos because of my flat feet, pronating ankles, and, oh, the fact that I'd fall flat on my arse. And I'm okay with that. I can wear wedges, chunky heels, kitten, etc. just fine. I have these boots: http://www.chadwicks.com/chadwicks/product/product.asp?pf_id=8080&dept_id=472&parent_id=55& in black and chocolate suede. I am always looking for more though. I love riding-style boots. They just look so comfortable yet elegant!

I would check out like mentioned before any western store, ebay and even shoe outlets....they should have stuff from last summer. I bought a pair of boots from the Aldo outlet not too long ago for a really good price. Also, ALDO right now has some really cute cowboy boots for about $150 (half of what you saw before).

Where I live (Calgary) the Western look is very hot, especially during the summer when we have the Stampede on. I say go for it!!!
