A lot of people had posted recomendations on the old board about foundations that have really good coverage for photos and tv. But what is your favorite foundation for every day use?
I've been using AV foundation and love it but I don't need as much coverage as I used to since Murad is clearing my skin really well.
I want a medium coverage foundation, I really like cake foundations but liquids will do as well. Preferably not more than like 20 bucks. I'd like it to be something I can get either at the drug store or at one of the cosmetic counters in the mall (we do have a MAC counter at the dept store in the mall here so MAC is a possibility). And I have acne prone skin so nothing that is to harsh or pore clogging.
I've tried cover girl true match (the foam textured foundation in the pump) I like it but it is very light coverage and I need something a little bit heavier to cover my little bit of acne scars that are left. I've also tried Loreal Matique and didn't like it very much. It was really hard to blend on my neck (maybe I need to moisturize my neck a bit better) It also didn't have much coverage, also it felt sticky to the touch even after powdering really well. The color of the matique I used matched wonderfully with my skin tone and with the CG I had to mix to colors together to get my shade.
Also if anyone has a reasonably priced pressed powder that they like let me know :)
Thanks in advance.
Hi! I also use and love AV foundation, but if you want something that's good, has less coverage, but will still do the job...you should try Max Factor colour adapt. It's inexpensive and it's my second favorite foundation. ;)

I like the perfect wear because its not too heavy or oily and doesn't clog my pores. It's reasonably priced also. For pressed powder I would suggest joining Cosmetique Club :o as they have one of the best pressed powders I have used. It's from their Arabella Stuart line. A nice soft powder that gives just the right touchup.

for little to medium coverage I love revlon skin lights diffusing tint, and for medium coverage I love MAC select spf15 foundation!

Laura Mercier is my absolute favorite foundation.
Hi Sparkz!
I've had really good luck with the Original Revlon Colorstay. It's a medium to full coverage liquid foundation with a pretty decent selection of colors. It can be applied very sheerly, if you moisturize or primer before hand. Or you could dampen a sponge and then apply.
Dior Skin Fluide is really nice too. There's a number of people here who love it. Including myself, when it's matched properly.

Another really good one is Vincent Longo Liquid Canvas Healthy Fluid Foundation SPF 8. It's popular for weddings and looks fabulous. To me, it's very similar to the Dior. Both make me look like I was born with perfect skin, which I definitely wasn't. Mine is oily/combo and splotchy from the sun and tanning abuse! ;)

You might try esking SpoiltBrat about the MAC Studio Select....I think that's what she wears. Her skin was flawless in every pic I've ever seen of her. But I suspect she has naturally perfect skin to begin with!
Armani Liquid Silk seems to be really popular. I think Dayna really likes it, as well as a few others.
Wheew! Off to drink more caffeine!
God luck!

I second the color stay original, probably one of my favorites. I also am loving my LM oil free but it might be more of a light coverage for you.

I have the AV foundation as well, and I like it but I don't wear it everyday. I agree with Kiki about the Diorskin - it's so nice and silky, but not cheap. For something cheaper with a similar finish I use Loreal True Match. Really nice finish (not too matte, but not shiny). BTW, when I wear a lighter foundation, I usually still use the AV as a concealer on any little red marks or whatever. It's a great as a concealer!
I've never been one for drugstore makeup (mostly because usually you can't try the colors) But I got a sample of CoverGirl outlast and LOVE it! :)

im really not a fan of foundation at all, although i have to wear it in the winter..so im really happy its finally warming up here so i can bust out the tinted moisturizer. i use the cover girl one, its actually the only cover girl product i have ever liked. during the winter i used L'oreal True Match and i liked it, it blends very nicely to my skin tone, but it tends to get crusty if you try to cover pimples with it. its tinted moisturizer and concealer for me! :p

For everyday, I love the all-in-one powder foundations mostly..Some do not like using them b/c of the dryness but I spritz my face with MAC's Fix + after putting them on..If you can get to a Sally Beauty Supply, Palladio Wet/Dry foundation covers well without cakiness and it's 10 bucks. I have sensitive/combo skin and it works well for me especially when I use a flocked sponge. You may also want to try the new Revlon foundations which I hear are comparable to Bobbi Brown's.
High-end faves are Body & Soul's 2-way powder foundation, Kanebo Cream Foundation, and Kevyn Aucoin's Dew Drop foundation..Good Luck!

Thanks so much everyone. I think I'm going to try the Revlon colorstay original because that got 3 votes :) I'll try this matique stuff for another week to see if I can get it to work for me. I really don't want to spend too much on foundation cause the more money i spend on that the less I can spend on eye shadow which is my favorite thing in the whole world. If I can't find a foundation I like after a few purchases I'll just go back to ordering AV I'm just so proud of my new skin since I've been fighting acne for 11 years and finally found a cure I want my real skin to be able to show a bit :) Thanks again everyone and keep the foundation raves coming!

but some of my favorites are Tarte Smooth Operator, Clarins True Radiance, Clarins Colour Tint, Stila TM, and the new MAC Select Moistureblend foundation. They're all great, but the one with the most coverage is the Select Moistureblend. The others are just ones that give dewy, glowy looks.

Not sure price wise if it's within your budget, as I'm going by british pounds, but everything's cheaper in the States, so I figure makeup may be too. It gives a nice sheer to medium coverage, and it's light with SPF in it. For extra special days (i.e. meetings or interviews) and nights, I use Chanel teint naturel. I also like Giorgio Armani LSF, and Laura Mercier foundations. All of htem gives very natural finish and have spf in it.

well i went out and bought the revlon colorstay like 3 of you suggested. I started to really hate the loreal mattique i was using. Its the kind of foundation that balls up around your chin when you apply it. And I couldn't get it to blend well even when using a damp sponge. I was considering trying Loreal true match since y'all started a whole thread on it but I put a dab on my hand to feel it at the store and it felt kinda sticky like the mattique so i decided to skip loreal all together and go for the revlon. I'll be using it today so I'll tell you all how I like it. Thanks again everyone.
If I don't like this one I'm not wasting anymore money... I'll just go back to AV and teach myself how to apply it very lightly. :)

For everyday use, I like Neutrogena Healthy Skin foundation. Normally I cannot wear any type of drugstore foundation but this one is great. I have never had a breakout and as a matter of fact my skin looks better since I have been using it.

well i love the revlon colorstay so far. I just need a different color. The one I got matched my skin but when I applied it and it dried it was too yellow. It's not too dark or too light just too yellow. I'll have to see if they have the same shade with a more pink undertone. It blends really well and doesnt ball up at all. I give it an A. Thanks to everyone who suggested it.

That is the reason I can't wear Revlon foundations - I just don't find they have a good cool toned porcelain foundation, it's always too yellow. You might be out of luck if you're the same skintone as me :(
I find L'oreal has nice cool-toned foundations, so if you don't find what you need in a Revlon product, you might want to consider the Loreal line. I like the Truematch foundation. There's a thread about it on the raves/reviews board and a lot of people like it. A few of my friends wear it and also love it.

Thank you Kiki! That is such a sweet compliment, especially from you! For everyday I use the Studio Tech (I think the one you were thinking of is the studio finish concealer for Joe and Fred.) I use the concealer for those, and Studio Tech for everyday, but when I go out and need reinforcements for holding on the spackle, I use Studio Fix on top of the rest. If I go semi-nekkid on the face I use the Select sheer pressed powder. And as for the skin, I am pretty lucky to have good skin (thanks again!) I think the most expensive face product I've ever used is the Fix +. The rest of what I use for skincare is drugstore or natural food store (Dr. Bronners rocks!) BTW I will PM you in a minute. I have a LOT of emails and PMs to catch up on since I've just sort of fallen off the side of the earth. I'll catch you up in a few, since I have a few minutes to get some ice water (I just worked out, yes, at 2:30 in the morning...I was bored.)

I had tried the loreal mattique and hated it. The color I used matched well but wouldnt blend and it made those flakey balls at my chin line. So I decided to go with Revlon just cause I didn't want to end up with the same problem. I felt the true match at the store and it seemed sticky like the mattique. I'm gonna try to find a revlon colorstay that matches my skin... If I can't find one I'll try the true match. If I don't like that either I'm gonna go back to AV even though its a little more than I want to pay for foundation every month.

BTW I got Revlon colorstay in Buff 02 and the Loreal Mattique that matches really well is nude beige. I had my husband match the foundation on my neck for me both times we went to the store so I'm not sure why the one matched at the other didn't. But the revlon ended up too yellow anyway.
edit: Nevermind I figured out what happened. The Loreal is actually too dark for me... But the powder I'm using lightened it and made it match my skin tone. The Revlon actually looks fine until I put the powder on. The powder is what is too yellow.
I'm dumb never mind LOL

Since I got the AV kit, I have been playing with the foundation in it this week! I have mild rosacea (only flushing) so I need a bit more coverage sometimes. I use 2-way foundations when I am not using cream foundations..My favorites are Body & Soul's 2-way powder foundation, Aveda's, and Jane Iredale. I recently tried Kevyn Aucoin's Dew Drop cream to powder and that's awesome too! It can be applied light or to full coverage..User-Friendly and Natural looking too! ;)

Sparkz....we must be the same skin tone because I wear revlon in buff 02. I agree that the powder can make a big difference. I really like the Loreal translucide in light. It matches perfectly and it has some light-reflecting particles in it too. Just one you might want to give a try!

Yes, Mattique is very matte and dries quickly and is not easy to blend. The True Match is a different finish entirely, more natural-satiny and easier to work with. Also the true match comes in such a big range of colours, more than the other Loreal foundations. They have cool, neutral, and warm colours, so you're bound to find something that works for you. You can see the colours here (http://www.lorealparis.ca/en/cosmetics/index_truematch.asp).
