as in jogging or walking, cycling, etc. how far is your enduracne and stamina?
i go for competition on each of my cycling and walks to see if i can beat my next exercise.
gosh it's been about 2 months for me to be able to go for long fast walks. i did 3 miles today, not bad considering i had my surgery 3 weeks ago. my side started to hurt a bit so i slowed down at times. but i will get there again.
so just wanted to know. curiosity. :)
thanks :)

Hey Debbie.... Congratulations! I had surgery a few years ago that involved taking bone from my hip. For a long time afterwards I couldn't walk for long distances and I wouldn't even think of running. It does all come with time! IT's really nice to hear of someone who isn't just taking it easy and using their down time to vegetate. Although it's nice to do that for awhile, regular life must go on!
As for my exercise right now, I'm currently doing about 60 minutes of cardio, sometimes more depending on the day, but I worked up to that, starting slowly and then adding time as I could. Good luck!

bones. ooooh ,those scare me. lol no offense that must have been tough. i had 3 surgeries and that's been plenty.
i am up to 60 , mins with my total work out. i want to keep it around 30 to 45. the rest i want to do in weights. cardio is no problem. it's just finding the right equipement that works for you. i like to cycle and jog, then walk to cool off.
it's os good to hear i am not the only one who puts up a fight. i like to exericse. finally i get to do it. no more surgeries. lol
good luck to you too. and take care

I find the best flow is;;;
a. light 3 minute stretch
b. jogging or other warmup drill,,,,3 min
c. stretch...2 min, not to cooldown
For Martial Arts
start with sun salutation
pushups, sets of 20, al least 3
situps.and reverse crunches, sets of 20, at least 3
leg swings, 20 each leg, crescent swings, same
hip swivel and rotation
knee swivel and rotation
side bends, neck rotations and stretch, seated leg stretch,
shoulder rotations forward and back
light shadow boxing
20 front kicks each side, 20 side kicks, 20 roundhouse, 20 back kicks
kata slow motion warmup for 10 minutes
regular speed kata (pre arranged fighting movements)
kata training, 40 minutes, precision movement
fast shadow boxing and martial arts weapons training
10 minutes stretch and meditation
energy drink with 400 kcal oligosaccharides
turn on TV, nap
eat later
When I do weights instead of karate, here is my split
Day One: Bis and Tris, Chest
Day Two: Back and Legs
Day Three: Shoulders, Abs, Core Training, Calf Raises and Plyometrics
I rest 1-2 days between training days for free weights. When doing karate I dont need a rest day,,,,in fact its contraindicated.
So in total, 2 hours for karate on karate days,,,,and 1 hour on weights for power/stretch days.......

I'm more of a sprint person. Got no stamina whatsoever!! Can do 100m, 200m, and 400m at a push! Used to do the (compulsory) school marathon by doing short sprint burst, and then panting like a dog for the next 30 minutes to calm myself down!! Can do strength exercises for ages though. Train every day for those athletic and sports meets. However, not sure if I can do any of those now....
Been doing one of those power yoga DVDs, and I think my stamina has build up a bit because of it. Love the fact that my body looks leaner and longer too, after only 2-3 weeks!! My first attempt only lasted for 10-15 minutes, but I found taht I can do longer after every day, so doing okay!

I don't do that much working out as I should, lol. Party because when you have both of your hips replaced, you have to take it easy for a while, and even after ... you have all of these restricted angles and movements ...
I do about 30 mins of walking, per day
then about an hour or an hour and a half of lifting little weights, to strengthen up my joints and so on,
about 3,000 of crunches per week
some other little various things.
But I only do those when I can. Arthritis has a way of cramping anything routine. I mostly watch what I eat to help me out.
No red meat, and very little poultry, and seafood.
No eating past 6 pm
Organic veggies and fruit, and lots of them
Plus ... I eat like a bird, always have.
(I have to try and stop snacking though ...) :(

a good workout for me is 2 hours. 45 minutes on the treadmill at some incline and ten the rest of the time doing weights. I rotate which end of the body i exercise as well. One day i do totall upper body, another day lower body. not good to work the same areas of your body day after day, your body gets use to it. I'm plus-size too and use to be able to run circles around some of the chicks at the gym. Of course now that i have settled down...i got the marraige pounds that i need to get rid of. I look best at 14 or 16, anything under that and i actually look too skinny.

me too. hey did you try the new revlon lip gloss? the one where it's 2 tubes?
let me say i really like it. i don't normally buy drug store make up unless it's arissa. but this stuff is good. it's gives a nice sheer glossed lips.
it's cheap too. i love it.
i am waring plum today, they also have a really pink one with glitter in teh gloss. it's pretty. i got to be careful of too many pink on me. if i had my blonde hair i would wear it more but now my hair is red so i have to be careful of pinks.
i am glad you don't let your condition get you down. that's cool. i guess in some ways all of us are blessed with some thing. god wouldn' t have us any other way. he does these things for a reason. but i am sure on your down days you conquer them.
same with me. i get stuck in a rut but i pull myself out of them. make up is my best asset. lol
eventhough my body has changed because of dr's meds, i still try to enjoy myself. :)
im glad you do too:)
so when you commin' to florida? you will see so many red necks.
hey we may bump into eachtother. you never know. :)

Yeah I find can't really wear much pink just doesnt go very nice on me, looks better with my blonde hair but not that great with brown hair, ooh remind me must upload some pics tomorrow of my new hair.
haha make up is the best way to make yourself feel better, cheers me up loads hehe, you should enjoy yourself no matter.

remember to post pics of your new hair. i can't wait to see it. :)
gosh you have almost 3 months go, it's not too bad.
ok here goes. we have our segregation. we have our rednecks, they are the ones who are well how do i put it, loud mouthed construction crews. they are the ones that honk at every woman they see.
we have a lot of latin americans here. they are descent. when you go to the mall you will feel so at home. there are so many people from england and france. so many. they all hit sephora.
this is funny, we were in sephora and it had been a really dreary week for all the vistors, no sun at all. anyway there were these two japanese guys fighting over tanning stuff. they wanted to look tan before they went back to japan. it was soooo funny. paul (my husband) and i were laughing our arsses off. lol
they were rubbing it in their skin. i was like do they know that their hands will be orange? lol
ahhh you will have so much fun. if you need directions anywhere let me know.
but you will have fun. trust me. :)

I love walking and that is really my only form of exercise besides horseback riding. I walk between 15-20kms per day about 4 or 5 days a week. Yes, it is a heck of a lot of walking, but myself and my dog love it!! 20kms takes me just under 4 hours but 15 takes me a lot less because I tend to speed walk it.
Day One: Bis and Tris, Chest
Day Two: Back and Legs
Day Three: Shoulders, Abs, Core Training, Calf Raises and Plyometrics
My workout splits are about the same, but then some weeks I prefer:
Day One: Chest, shoulders and triceps
Day Two: Back and biceps
Day Three: Legs
I do ab work on whatever day I'm inspired. :). I do 30 minutes of cardio after my training and my stretching in between each exercise (stretching the muscle that was just trained).
My total workout is around an hour or so sometimes a little more. :)

Hun, I understand you completely!! Although in my opinion, and I'm sure yours too, Cystic Fibrosis is far worse than what I have, Severe Rheumatoid Arthritis in every joint of my body. You get tired and exhausted doing the easiest little thing! Walking up a flight of steps is almost like conquering a small mountain to me! Complete with the Rocky arm waving and tiny hop of victory when I do it, lol.
It's difficult just to do laundry, lol! Let alone have a regular work out program you can stick to every day!
So, I figure, with all of the crap I go through (And you too) every single day, we're allowed to have an extra pound or two, lol!

I've actually been doing really well after my hip replacements (I'm able to walk again because of them!)
It didn't take me too long to recover from them partly because I'm younger than most others who get them replaced, and secondly, because I'm stubborn and did the therapy exercises regularly. In order to get out of the hospital we all had to complete so many steps and leg strengthening exercises ... the other people were complaining left and right and making a fuss, but I wanted to get out of there, FAST! So, by the second day after my surgery, I was walking all over the place. It was a funny sight ... a tiny little 5'1 person in pigtails, zipping all over the hospital wing with her walker, lol.
Other than the scars and setting off metal detectors where ever I go, I'm doing really well!

you would never know it. :)
i think all of us have had our fair share of live experiences especially in the health factor. but we hang in there. step by step.
people look at me and my surgery scars at the pool. i don't care, get a good look 'cause it could happen to anyone. right? lol
you got to keep an good attitude about life. that's how it is. it doesn't stop for us to catch up. we just keep going. :)

Oh and I watch my Diet.
No red meat
No pork
No Soda
No candy
and I know this is really hard but NO Chocolate
No coffee
Stay away from Fried Foods
and Kiss Fast Food Goodbye.
I eat chicken, fish, vegies and fruit. I drink water or crystal light. I snack on Protein Bars, some actually don't taste like clay and taste pretty good.
Yay for you! Thats great. I don't eat red meat/pork either. I don't eat much of that other stuff you aren't eating either. Besides chocolate, which is about once a week.
As for my workouts, I don't often. When I have the energy to, I go long distance running. Or the two minute walk, two minute run. Everynight before bed I do 1 rep of these leg things I came up with but I'm sure someone else uses them and up to 75 crunches on my bed.
Ohhhh new thread idea.

It depends. Sometimes I will walk to the beach, which takes about an hour probably? I will jog sometimes about half way there, but it's hard for me to go all of the way because there are a lot of MASSIVELY STEEP hills to climb up and down on the way there. I walk to school a lot, which is about 45 minutes give-or-take. Normally with repetition excersise I do it during commercials when I watch TV. I walk a LOT, probably will spend 80% of my summer doing that this year, lol.

I work out for about an hour and 15 mins. Ill start by doing 30 mins of cardio.
then i do about 100 crunches, then about 40-50 push ups, which will take me about 10 mins. then i will do my stretch out, which takes about 25 mins. i do advanced flexibilty training for cheerleading which is why i take so long stretching. after that, i do jump drills for my cheer jumps.the whole thing takes about an hour, an hour 15 if i do lots of drills.
