:( ok. my skin has been terrible. i dont have an appointment with my derm. until june so i will have to wait. but in the meantime, i want ur opinions!!! ever since i started yasmin, my skin has gone a little crazy, (lotsa breakouts, ULTRA sensative, red, blotchy, dry) n i thought yasmin was supposed to help, and it's been 2 months already. i drink tons of water everyday so this is just weird. my skin went SUPER crazy after i stopped my MAC scrub/mask and when i went to St Ive's apricot scrub. my skin just was soooo dry and broke out like crazy. now my skin is completely off track. ive stopped exfoliating altogether cuz my skin cant handle anything. im constantly switching cleansers cuz there is not one that ive liked (looking for one that makes my skin soft after i wash). ive even stopped my night acne treatment (benzaclin) cuz it is too drying and makes me itch like u wouldnt believe! lately, ive tried dotting it on my pimples and it doesnt seem to be working anymore. in the morning after i wash my face, i use loreal transformance then i put another acne treatment (tazorac) over that. it used to really be a great combo for my skin, but now, it hardly does the job. everyday, my skin is dry, blotchy, red, irritated (always have a new breakout) and im lost. i dont know where i went wrong or what i can do in the meantime until i meet up with my derm. i never wear makeup, but now i guess im gonna get a tinted moisturizer to help "even things out" a little......ne comments???
p.s. ive tried to wax in b/w my eyebrows and my skin is VERY red and i can tell that it will start to peel in a couple days....arrrgghhh

To me it sounds like that it might be the yasmin causing your problems. Did the skin problems start after you started the pill? I know BC pills act by making your body think it's pregnant so you won't release an egg. When I was pregnant my skin acted crazy, hormones can make your skin wacky so it is totally probable that the pill is what is making your skin crazy. I would stick to a mild cleanser until you can see your derm and see if it helps. It can take about three months before your body gets used to your BC so you might want to wait another month and see if it gets any better.

i was on yasmin and i broke out like crazy. it all went away the 3rd month. you have to give it 3 months to take it's full affect. in the mean time you dr can do something of you when you see him i am sure. but like dayna said hormones can play a big part of a women's body.
it screwed mine up even after getting off bc for 3 months. so it's the same thing getting on it.
good luck
ps if it doesn't go away in 3 months i's ask for a different birth control. that might clear it up.

Hey Jenicy, sorry about your skin problem. First of all, since it started with your new birth control pill, that is the most likely cause, as all the others said. And the best way to prevent problems is to eliminate the cause, so stop using them. Also, your skin sounds very sensitised, which the birth control pill may have accentuated. You sound like you have been using a lot of different products, and have also been switching loads, which doesn't help. And all the extra anti-acne products is also drying your skin, and casuing rebound oiliness and breakouts.

My best recommendation is to stop using the pill, and stop all anti-acne products, oral and tropical. They are usually a bit drying for the skin, adn can irritate people with sensitive skin. Go for a very gentle creamier cleanser, no toner and exfoliating (esp with St Ives as it's quite harsh and grainy) and oil free moisturisers that is hydrating. May also go for a hydrating calming mask and see if that alleviates the problem. Stick with it for a week or at least till your dermatologist appointments, and see if there are any improvements. If you still want some spot treatments, I would stay clear of benzoyl peroxide or any harsh treatments. Instead, try stuff like Tea Tree Oil which is as effective, but less irritating,

Hope this helps at all, and your skin gets better soon.
