Hello everyone; I require your lovely, and often very good, advice.
I am very thin, 120lbs at 5'6", and I have a semi-odd bodyshape. I have an hourglass figure, but not in a curvy way, it's sort of like a swimmer's. I have a large upper chest, but small breasts (B), and large upper arms/shoulders. Sort of boyish. I have a tiny waist, but have rather large hips, which often prevents me from buying pants that would actually fit. ><;; What type of pants should I be buying, and what style shirt/neck line would look best on me? I also have a very long neck, so I'm trying to avoid looking giraffey. (Hehehe.) I usually wear structured button-downs and/or scoopneck shirts. My pants, however, fit horribly, often being tight in the thigh and bum area, and loose in the calves.
What do you recommend?

So besides being my hair twin, you're my body twin too!! I'm 2 inches taller adn 10 pounds heavier, but the rest of the specifications are right on!! I have so much trouble finding trousers, and thanked my lucky stars when hipsters were in and actually fitted me for the most part. I like looser trousers, like palazzo pants, as they make my legs look longer and the final effect is a very sleek look, so don't have the problem about the calf area being tight. My problem is when the hips and things are fit nicely, and the waist is very loose - or everything else fits nicely, but it's a bit too tight around the hip area for my liking. I'm more of a shoulder than butt person!!!
What I usually do is buy a size that fits my hips comfortably, and then alter the trousers to take the waist in. It's easier to take the size in rather than the other way around. Most shops alter it for you anyway, so it won't cost much, and it just takes a day. Most of the time now, I usually go for tailored trousers that is exactly the style I want and catered for my measurements. My elder sister lives in Singapore with her husband and baby, and it costs me about 20-30 pounds for tailored trousers over there!!! Great, huh?
As for tops, I like to show off my neck and shoulders, so mostly ballerina and boatneck tops. I also like fitted tailored shirts or sleeveless and halters. And strapless tops are great for evenings out. Paired with a great necklace, adn you're all set!! My philosophy is to enhance your best features, so shoulders and legs for me!!! Swimmers are known to have a great upper body shape, so I won't try to hide that if I were you. Show it off!! Hey..if you've got it, flaunt it!!

*dances* Thankees! I've never tried a ballerina top before, so I shall have to hunt one down. Yes, hipsters were my saviour, as they fell no where near my waist, and catered to the most annoying part of my body. :D I also like wider pants, as I don't like my jeans looking sprayed on. *shudder*

i have long legs though. but have muscular upper body. my arms are thicker with muscle. now my legs are thin and long. my upper torso is shorter. so i try to look like all legs so i get skirts more so than pants. these pants that go hip level fit perfect. i am normally a 6 but lately my body has contorted into a hippo because of meds. but normally i weigh 120.
i also buy thin spaghetti strap tanks. the thicker ones make my upper body less feminine. also as summer said ballerian tops are nice.
i also try to use black shoes because i wear an eight and half so i don't want to look like clobber foot. lol
i can't afford to have my clothes talored so i try to stick with one type of clothes. lei jeans make my butt look like it dropped. but mudd or canyone river blues make me look sleeker. if they are a bit big in the waist i pull them down a bit. i have small hips and a normally a small waist.
also if you get clothes form target get their skirts. they fit really well. hope this helps some :)
